This week is Cover the Uninsured Week, a time to speak out for the 47 million Americans who lack health insurance. Unfortunately, this week even insured individuals -- those on Medicaid -- face the very real possibility of losing health care benefits if the Senate doesn't act immediately.
In 2007, the Bush Administration issued major changes in the rules for how states could receive federal funding for Medicaid. If Congress doesn't act now to halt implementation, these rules will have a devastating impact on some of the most vulnerable people in the program -- children with special health care needs and people with disabilities.
The House overwhelmingly passed legislation that would delay the implementation of the regulations until next year.
Now it is up to the Senate.
Don't wait: urge your senators to vote to stop these harmful Medicaid regulations today.
